Although supporting all areas of Academic Services work, this position is currently based primarily within the Library's Engineering & Design Subject Team.  The subject team comprises one Faculty Librarian and one Subject Librarian in addition to this position.

As an Information Librarian you will

  • be responsible for answering information, resource and skills related enquiries from library users at all levels, through our online enquiry management service, in person and through other online tools.
  • assist Faculty and Subject Librarians in preparing and delivering library induction and information skills teaching, for online and in-person delivery, and will have opportunity to design, plan and deliver training sessions yourself. 
  • support the Faculty and Subject Librarians in all areas of collection development, management and promotion, and provide advice and guidance to teaching staff on creation of reading lists.
  • assist in preparing library guidance, teaching and publicity materials, in a variety of formats including for our website (LibGuides), the University’s VLE, and Library social media.
  • work closely with colleagues across the Library, and will have opportunity to contribute to development work across the service through participation in task and finish and special interest groups.
  • deputise for Subject and Faculty Librarians at academic department meetings when needed.  

You should be innovative and collaborative in your work, with excellent communication skills and good attention to detail.

Applicants should have a CILIP accredited qualification in librarianship or information studies or equivalent, to at least degree level, or clear commitment to completion if not yet awarded.

This is a full-time position (36.5 hours per week), working on campus for 3 days per week with the opportunity to work 2 days off-campus.

<![CDATA[Senior Library Assistant (Document Delivery) (CC13865)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CC13865 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CC13865 This Senior Library Assistant role within the Document Delivery team works across its three services of (Inter-Library Loans, Bath Copies and Library Scanning Service for Teaching Staff) to achieve the smooth and efficient provision of material not held within the library’s collections in addition to the delivery of digitised content from the library's print holdings. 

You will 

  • locate items held by other libraries and services and process borrowing and lending requests via our Library Management System (LMS)
  • work closely with other members of the Document Delivery team, wider library staff and our University’s academic community to ensure requested material is obtained and delivered accurately and efficiently.

The post should appeal to people who are seeking experience of working in a contemporary document delivery service within a higher education library.

You will be a reliable and committed team member with exceptional customer service skills and ideally have some previous experience of working in an HE library, along with:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • demonstrable experience of being an effective team member.
  • attention to fine detail.
  • excellent IT skills, including the ability to learn local LMS based workflows and how to search a variety of resources to locate specific items of information.

You will understand the role that document delivery services plays in a higher education library. Knowledge and experience of working with an LMS such as Alma would be advantageous as would an understanding of digitisation processes from print resources.

This is a part-time position working 21.9 hours per week (Monday-Wednesday) for a fixed-term period until 31 July 2027.
