This is a full-time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term post for 12 months within the Serology Research Group. The Serology group have internationally recognised expertise in identifying autoantibodies in Rheumatic disease. The post holder will provide subject-specific research assistance to a Principal Investigator (PI)/Co-Investigator (CI) and their research team for specified research grants aimed at identifying autoantibodies in patients with myositis and systemic sclerosis.. They will also support the research team in analysis of diagnostic samples and in the day to day management and development of the group's autoantibody diagnostic service.

Key duties will include

  • Preparing, generating and recording the outcome of laboratory work 
  • Contributing to the design and execution of the autoantibody diagnostic service and research projects e.g. timetabling and meeting project milestones
  • Contributing to the production of research reports and publications
  • Regularly participation in group meetings
  • Assistance with supervising student and research fellow projects

  • have knowledge and experience of undertaking relevant immunological assays, such as ELISA and immunoprecipitation, for autoantibody identification,
