This three-year Research Associate* (Post Doc) position will encompass predominantly working on a series of research projects, in a collaboration between the Stress, Anxiety, Resilience, and Thriving (StART) research group (Department for Health, VR成人视频) and external sports organizations (e.g., UK Sports Institute).

The research projects will be on the topic of thriving in sport and will include an examination of how sporting organizations can create optimal environments that promote positive mental health and enable athletes to “win well”, that is, experience thriving (the joint experience of success and development).

Specifically, the research will unpick how performance and wellbeing (as proxies of success and development) can co-exist within the elite sport system and any tensions that might exist with their joint experience. Subsequently, it will involve tracking athletes’ thriving over time, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of an intervention to enable and support thriving in elite sport.

In addition to the aforementioned research projects, the Research Associate will support the Principal Investigator (Professor Rachel Arnold) with additional responsibilities. Examples include supervision of doctoral students, research assistance on existing grants, preparing grant bids, writing-up completed research and impact projects, and supporting the smooth running of the StART research group. As a member of Research Staff at the VR成人视频, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

Our ideal candidate

The Research Associate will need to have expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and science communications to disseminate the findings into elite sport policy and practice.

Thus, they should have experience of being able to create and maintain good relationships with external partners.

Additionally, the Research Associate will require excellent time and project management skills, high levels of initiative, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional information

*If you have not yet been awarded your PhD/Prof Doc, you will need to have at least submitted your thesis in order to be offered this Grade 7 role (if successful).

This offer would be subject to you passing your viva with or without minor corrections and your PhD/Prof Doc being awarded within your six-month probation period.

Please note that an offer may be withdrawn, or probation failed, if a PhD/Prof Doc viva is not passed or passed with major corrections.

The University’s normal probationary requirements apply in all other respects.

A lower grade offer may be made with comparable reduction in responsibilities (and amendment in job title to Research Assistant) if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.

Grade 6 applicants will need to be within six months of submitting their PhD/Prof Doc thesis and will be promoted to Research Associate once their doctorate has been awarded.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Professor Rachel Arnold (rsa24@bath.ac.uk), Dr Lee Moore (ljm90@bath.ac.uk), or Dr Daniel Brown (db2578@bath.ac.uk).

Because of the dual nature of the role, we are looking for a strong all-round marketer who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery.

You should also have excellent organisational skills, be a good team player, and be able to successfully manage your workload as well as stakeholder expectations.

 • Formal marketing qualification (CIM or equivalent) or strong evidence of marketing training
 • Experience in marketing strategy and portfolio development, including competitor analysis and product positioning
 • Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
 • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
 • Curious, proactive, and comfortable working independently

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a collaborative team in a dynamic environment, with the chance to shape our course portfolio and influence future marketing strategies.

<![CDATA[Bath Insights Internship (CC13241)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CC13241 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CC13241 Available exclusively to VR成人视频 students, Bath Insights provides the opportunity to gain work experience across various University departments on campus for a fixed-term period from 1 June 2026 to 24 July 2026

The format varies between departments, but all internships are on-campus or hybrid. There are no remote-only internships, as a key part of completing an internship is gaining experience of working with colleagues in a professional working environment.

Eligibility

The programme is open to most VR成人视频 undergraduate students in years one and two. If you’re studying a distance learning course or visiting the University on an exchange, you’re not eligible to apply. You're also not able to apply if you have already completed a Bath Insights internship.

Available opportunities

You’re not able to apply to a specific internship, as this programme is designed to offer professional work experience across a range of areas, all of which will provide interesting and enriching experiences. The panel will review all applications, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre. If you are successful at that stage the panel will match you to the most appropriate internship.

All of the internships have been designed to give you the opportunity to gain work experience in a safe, supportive environment. Wherever you are placed, you will work on a real project, developing a range of sought-after skills and competencies, while being supported by the host department and the Careers Team. Every project will give you the chance to develop workplace skills and contribute blue skies thinking and practical solutions.

See an overview of potential projects

You will have the opportunity to indicate on your application if you have a particular interest in a Project theme.

Your skills and attributes

We know finding work experience can be a real challenge for students in years one and two as organisations often ask for evidence of prior experience and skills you may not have had a chance to develop. We also recognise that these internships are intended for students with minimal or no prior work experience, so we have designed the process to be as inclusive as possible. However, to be successful in any of these roles you will need to be someone who has:

 • Excellent written communication skills
 • Strong verbal communication skills
 • Effective planning and organising skills
 • Strong IT and digital skills; willingness to develop further IT skills
 • Experience of team working and awareness of different styles and approaches
 • A commitment to high quality customer service
 • A professional attitude and approach

Additionally, you’ll be:

 • Able to take the initiative and be proactive
 • Able to cope with competing and shifting priorities and work towards deadlines
 • Enthusiastic, committed and resourceful

Selection process

Applications will be reviewed, and a shortlist of students will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre that will run in early March 2026. You’re not able to apply to a specific internship; instead, if you are successful, you will be matched by the panel to the most appropriate internship opportunity for you.

Questions and support

Bath Insights is run by Employability and Student Success in conjunction with colleagues across the University. All interns will receive a comprehensive onboarding and induction. If you have any questions about the programme, please contact internships@bath.ac.uk

Closing Date: 01 Feb 2026

Department: Management, Specialist and Administration

Salary: Appointments at Grade 2 will receive an additional pensionable supplement to ensure a minimum hourly pay equivalent to £12.60 in line with Voluntary Living Wage.
Free accommodation is provided for the duration of the internship.

 • Outstanding stakeholder management across academics, health systems, and commercial environments
 • Experience in securing funding and delivering innovation projects that generate measurable impact
 • Ability to translate between the different languages of academia, health systems, and business

The UKRI Creating Opportunities Trial Accelerator Fund is aimed at enabling the research and innovation community to test interventions that will spread opportunities and reduce spatial disparities in economic, health and social outcomes for people and places across the UK.

Whilst part of the wider project team, you will sit within the Brunel Centre.
