As Communications Lead for Research Culture, you'll be right at the heart of supporting change - planning, delivering and evaluating high-quality communications that enable key projects within the new Research Culture Action Plan to realise their planned benefits. 

You could be involved in designing and delivering comms to embed new responsible research assessment practices, support dignity and respect initiatives, promote engagement with open research, or raise awareness of ways to improve recognition for historically under-recognised staff. 

You: 

  • will have experience designing, delivering and evaluating results-focussed communications campaigns
  • can manage projects involving multiple stakeholders to successful completion
  • have a strategic eye, but like getting get stuck into delivery 
  • are motivated by the idea of making a positive difference to the culture that our research-related staff and students experience
  • are interested in the details, capturing the important nuances in messages while still making them engaging for their intended audience

You'll have the chance to work with diverse groups of experts & stakeholders across the university and use your creativity to move the dial on the cultural changes that matter most to our community. You may also have an insight into higher education or research-related environments in other sectors.

Further information

This is a part-time role, working 21.9 hours (0.6 fte) which can be worked in any configuration over a usual working week. There is a slight preference for one in-person day on Monday/Tuesday to align with the project lead. Available as a job-share/with flexible working.

The role is fixed-term until July 2026 with the possibility of extension (funding dependant).

  • You will possess excellent communication skills, together with a positive, professional manner and the ability to deal tactfully and confidently with people at all levels. 
  • With energy and enthusiasm, you will have the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high quality work, attention to detail, and dealing with multiple and varied responsibilities.

With a wide ecosystem across SETsquared and beyond, this is a complex and challenging but stimulating and rewarding environment to work within.

Further information

This is a part-time role, working 21.9 hours (0.6 fte) for an initial fixed-term period of two years, until April 2027. Please note that the working days are yet to be agreed with the Manager according to the demands of the project.

You may be required to undertake duties outside of standard University hours, including evenings where the business need arises, and some travelling across the South of the UK/South Wales may be required.
